The Role of Social Media in Shaping Public Discourse: A Personal Journey
During my tenure as a Social Media Manager and Strategist for Il Quotidiano del Sud, I navigated
the intricate landscape of online communication, brand positioning, and audience engagement.
This experience was instrumental in understanding the profound impact of social media on shaping
public discourse and influencing societal narratives.
The primary challenge was to enhance the newspaper’s digital presence, a task that demanded
creativity, strategic thinking, and an in-depth understanding of digital trends. Developing and
implementing social media strategies to boost visibility and drive traffic to our platforms was a
multifaceted endeavor, involving content creation, audience analysis, and the agile adaptation to
the ever-changing algorithms of social platforms.
One of the key lessons from this experience was the power of storytelling in engaging and
expanding our audience. Crafting compelling narratives that resonated with our followers not only
increased our reach but also fostered a sense of community and dialogue around pertinent issues.
This role underscored the importance of social media as a tool for democratizing information,
providing a platform for diverse voices, and facilitating conversations on topics of public interest.
Moreover, the collaborative nature of the work, involving cross-functional teams, highlighted the
interdisciplinary approach required in modern media and communication strategies. Aligning social
media efforts with overall marketing and communication objectives was crucial in creating a
cohesive and impactful online presence.
In retrospect, my journey in social media management and strategy has been a profound learning
experience, offering insights into the complexities of digital communication and its significance in
shaping public discourse. As we continue to navigate the digital age, the role of social media in
influencing societal narratives and fostering public engagement remains paramount, a reality that
continues to inspire my professional aspirations and contributions to the field.
Internship Insights: Behind the Scenes of a High-Profile International Event
My internship at the Euro Mediterranean Festival of the Economy (Feuromed) was a transformative
experience that provided me with a unique vantage point into the world of international event
management. The festival, which saw the participation of Italian Ministers, European Commission
and Parliament representatives, and leaders from the Middle East, Africa, and major Italian
companies, was a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and discussions on the future of the economy in
the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The role I played in event coordination, diplomatic engagement, and organizational tasks offered
me a firsthand look at the complexities and nuances of managing high-profile events. The
challenges were as diverse as the participants, ranging from logistical hurdles to ensuring
meaningful interactions among attendees from vastly different backgrounds. This experience
taught me the importance of meticulous planning, flexibility, and the ability to navigate cultural
nuances to foster dialogue and collaboration.
One of the key insights from my internship was the critical role of diplomacy in international events.
Engaging with diplomats and representatives from various countries and organizations required a
nuanced understanding of diplomatic protocols, cultural sensitivities, and the art of communication.
This aspect of my internship was particularly enlightening, highlighting the intersection of
international relations and event management.
The success of the Feuromed festival underscored the power of events in bringing together diverse
stakeholders to discuss and shape the future of economies and societies. It was a testament to the
importance of cross-cultural communication, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas in
addressing global challenges. My internship experience has not only honed my skills in event
management and diplomacy but also reaffirmed my passion for contributing to meaningful
dialogues that transcend borders and sectors.
The Fusion of Management and Computer Science in Today’s BusinessLandscape
In an era where technology infiltrates every aspect of our lives, the intersection of management
and computer science emerges as a pivotal domain for aspiring professionals. My academic
journey at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome, Italy, equipped me with a comprehensive
understanding of this intersection, blending the principles of management with the technical
prowess of computer science. The synergy between these fields is not just academic; it’s a critical
driver of innovation and efficiency in the modern business world.
The curriculum at Luiss Guido Carli University is meticulously designed to bridge the gap between
managerial strategies and technological advancements. Courses like Performance Measurements,
Legal System in the Digital Age, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have been
instrumental in shaping my perspective on how technology can streamline operations, enhance
decision-making, and foster a culture of innovation. My thesis, which focused on comparing startup
laws across Italy, the EU, and the US, underscored the importance of legal frameworks in
facilitating or hindering technological advancement and entrepreneurship.
Through exchange programs in Madrid, Spain, and Zagreb, Croatia, I further explored the global
dimensions of this fusion. The international exposure underscored the universality of tech-driven
management strategies and the need for adaptive legal systems that support technological
innovation and protect against monopolistic practices. These experiences were not just
academically enriching; they were a testament to the universal language of innovation and
management in the tech era.
In the business landscape, the integration of management and computer science is manifesting
through digital transformation initiatives, where companies leverage technology to enhance their
operations, customer experience, and competitive edge. My educational background and hands-on
experiences have equipped me with the skills to navigate and lead in this evolving landscape,
understanding the nuances of technology implementation from both a managerial and technical
perspective.
As we look to the future, the convergence of management and computer science will continue to
be a cornerstone of business innovation and growth. The insights gained from my academic and
extracurricular engagements have solidified my belief in the power of this interdisciplinary
approach to solving complex business challenges and driving forward the digital economy.
